Freddie Rayner
Immediate £102,000 Of New Business From One Simple SuccessTrack Technique
Franchise owner Freddie Rayner was so inspired by what he learnt at a SuccessTrack event he took immediate action to use just one of the many techniques he discovered and within days had earned a staggering £102,000.
The owner of the Time For You franchise left the SuccessTrack Platinum Group meeting and wrote to the people who had previously expressed an interest in becoming franchisees. SuccessTrack delegates are encouraged to reactivate contact with ‘dormant’ customers and to keep communicating with prospects.
“I was told this strategy, that strategy, the next strategy and I literally burned them into my psyche, went away and immediately put them into practice,” recalls Freddie. “I heard it, I understood it, and I did it. I looked at previous applicants and wrote to them again and said ‘See what we have on offer now’ – it was basically the same offer but I had sharpened it up… I simply wrote them a letter – and gave them a reason to respond and three people did. The difference there was that within immediate effect I signed up three more franchisees and that meant an actual bottom line of £102,000 worth of business.” Freddie, who has had more than 20 years experience in the domestic cleaning business, has operated Time For You since 1997. The company is now the largest domestic service franchise in the UK and is so successful that it won an HSBC Bank ‘Business of the Year’ Award and has been featured on the BBC television programme Working Lunch. It has more than 165 franchisees serving 12,000 clients a week across the UK. Some of its franchisees earn annual profits in excess of £150,000.
Inspired by his initial success in reinvigorating dormant leads, Freddie took action on another SuccessTrack strategy – he wrote a book in a week. Delegates are encouraged to write a book about their specialist area and to use the book to generate leads and to position themselves as experts in their markets.
“I shot off to my place in Spain for a week– and I wrote the book Franchise Success, How To Make It Happen … I was thrilled to bits.” At the time of writing, Freddie was awaiting its arrival from the printer. “It is going to put me in the situation where I am going to be the ‘go to’ guy for franchising and franchising information. That will clearly put me at an advantage.
“More importantly, I’ve got strategies in place now where I don’t have to spend silly money on adverts for my particular franchise. Instead I’m having small adverts asking people to look at my book before buying any franchise. That’s why I’m buzzing. I know my book is going to arrive any day. I know big things are going to happen for me personally and for my business as a direct result of me showing up at Jonathan Jay’s SuccessTrack event and investing in one of his courses. At the time, I had thought ‘I can’t afford this because I’m going nowhere… it was the best investment I ever did – it turned it all around: my psychological pistons are revving at full-speed. My marketing funnel had been empty. But I have got people back in the funnel. I have got others in the pipeline.”
With the help of SuccessTrack’s Public Relations expert Paul Green, Freddie has organised a comprehensive PR strategy to accompany the book’s publication. “I’ve got press releases, ezine articles, blogs and Tweets to promote the book. We’re just waiting on the book’s physical arrival – and then we can launch the press releases, do the ezine articles and then wait for me to become the UK’s ‘go to’ guy for franchising.”
The book contains testimonials including one from a British Franchise Association (BFA) legal representative. “That’s a result of Jonathan Jay’s input – he encouraged me to approach the BFA for a testimonial. I thought ‘There’s no way he’s going to come back to me’ but he did – he came back with a glowing testimonial. I thought ‘Wow, this is absolutely fantastic.’ It was then rushed off to print.
“With that endorsement from the BFA – it will appear much more credible. And we’re going to be giving away copies of the book in Franchise magazine.”
Freddie’s enthusiasm for his company is infectious – so much so that people have nicknamed him ‘Tigger’ because like the storybook character in Winnie the Pooh, he’s always bouncing about. But it wasn’t always like this – in fact, before booking a one-to-one consultation with Jonathan Jay, he was far from happy.
“When I first went to Jonathan I had become disenchanted with my business because it wasn’t producing what I had led myself to believe it could. I didn’t really know where my business was going. It was doing okay but I knew it could do better.
“Jonathan helped me realise there was a definite blockage in my business and it was caused by me. That was a revelation. When I thought about what he said I started to put into practice the solutions he suggested.
“He was right – he asked me if I went into the office every day with the right mental attitude wearing the right clothes, prepared to do business. The answer was ‘No’. I was brassed off with nothing happening. I just put out adverts that weren’t working much and blamed the fact people weren’t responding to adverts.
“I suddenly realised ‘Hey, I’ve got to do something … I’ve got to sharpen everything up.’ I had to go back through everything and realise that a lot of things were just slipping through my fingers.
“It’s not until you realise where you are going wrong that you can put things right. When someone says ‘Look you’re going wrong because you’re on the wrong road … turn around, go back again and set off again on the right route.
“I was pretty fed up – down in the dumps – and I’m certainly not that any more. I’ve got enthusiasm in bucket loads and that’s what you need to be successful in business.
“To say I’m pleased with what I’ve learnt is an understatement. I’m still attending the Platinum Course programme. I am putting it all into practice and it has made a big difference to me and I would highly recommend that people who want to be in business, stay in business and make a success of business take on board what they hear at the Platinum course.
“I don’t know where this is all going to lead but I know that I’ve started off a chain of events and it’s unstoppable. I might be in the Bahamas this time next year doing a talk on franchising.”
